If you joined us in our recent free My Herbal Study Tips series, you know full well how much love we have for. This membership space offers access to exclusive resources designed specifically for herbalists in all stages of their herbal journey. We are always dreaming up ways to expand The Herbarium for our community – adding new material and resources throughout each month to support our readers on their learning paths and listening to feedback from members on what offerings they would like to see in this space. Per our members’ requests, today we are excited to share the launch of a brand new in-depth offering inside The Herbarium and an expansion of our reproductive health series: the Herbal Support for Pregnancy Intensive! Pregnancy is such a special time and a beginning of a new relationship with your body and beloved baby developing inside—a journey that benefits from gentle care and knowledgeable support. Over the years, many of our students have reached out with questions about using herbs for support during pregnancy, such as: What herbs are safe to use? What are the best ways to incorporate herbs during pregnancy? Which herbs are best for pregnancy-related heartburn? Can herbs be used to ease morning sickness? How can I incorporate herbs for emotional and physical support during childbirth? In an effort to answer these questions, and help you feel confident throughout pregnancy and birth (or in supporting others) Herbal Academy’s clinical herbalists Lisa Olson and Shona Richter MacDougall have teamed up with herbalist and doula Jovan Sage to provide a four-part Herbal Support for Pregnancy Intensive that provides answers and guidance for those who are pregnant themselves or for herbalists looking to support pregnant clients. Session 1 | Nutritive Tonics + Common Conditions: Explore nutritive and tonic herbs that can be incorporated regularly during pregnancy. We cover how to safely use herbs during pregnancy and discuss some specific herbs that are most beneficial as nutritives and for some common conditions, along with recommendations for preparing them. Session 2 | Common Conditions, Part II: Although pregnancy can be a wonderful season of life, it is not without its discomforts. In this session, we discuss some common conditions that may arise and how to use herbs for support. Topics include nausea, morning sickness, heartburn, constipation, yeast infections, and how to safely support the body through colds and flu during pregnancy. Session 3 | Common Conditions, Part III: Expand your learning into more common conditions during pregnancy, such as iron deficiency anemia, gestational diabetes, hypertension, and the herbal support that may be appropriate, as well as the use of herbs to prepare the uterus for birth. Session 4 | Preparing for Birth: Physical and Emotional Support: Doula and herbalist Jovan Sage shares a variety of ways to prepare for birth, both physically and emotionally, with guidance for selecting your birthing team, bringing your preferences into focus, and considering the elements of comfort and nourishment to have on hand during the birthing process itself. The Herbal Support for Pregnancy Intensive is now available to current members of The Herbarium. If you are not currently a member, with code BEGINNINGS to get 15% off your first year of membership.
