Learning On The Go – My Top 3 Apple Podcasts

In today’s tech centred climate, time is precious. Nothing says “ffs not again” than an annoyingly slow wifi connection or buffering catch up show. With this tech surge, we literally have mini-personalised computers in our pockets, they never cease to gain our attention *cue Apple iMessage sound*, we are constantly checking, rechecking and scrolling through our phones, multitasking up to our eyeballs.

I’ve learnt that the best way to get things down, whilst on the move is to listen to podcasts. Without too much effort you can run, walk and elbow you way onto the packed rush hour trains whilst soaking up information with little to no effort and in true time saving style.

Currently my favourite podcasts are:

This podcasts interviews the founders of many successful global brands and delves deep into their thought process during the idea phase, start up phase and trading phase of the brands they built. Interviewees on the show include Sara Blakely Founder of Spanx, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger Co-Founders of Instagram, Jane Wuranda Founder of Dermalogica, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream and Richard Branson Founder of Virgin.

Key Takeaway… Whether you’ve just had an idea or you are currently trading keep going as the keys to success are commitment, hard work, enthusiasm and most importantly self-belief.

Listen If… You’re at the starting point of your business, or have an idea in your head and want to learn more about the eureka moments behind some of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs, idealists and innovators

I really enjoy this podcast, the friendly tone makes the interviews seem more like a informal chat. The inspiring interviews are very much focused on the branding behind the start ups and feature interviews from Pippa Murray of nuttilicious nut butter brand Pip & Nut, Jamie Laing and Edward Williams Co-Founders of Candy Kittens, Harry Clarke & James Rae of alcoholic ice lollies Pops and Richard Reed of Innocent.

Key Takeaway… Don’t be afraid to just give your idea/business/innovation a go! And remember branding is key, as although the service or product has to be great, consumers initially want to buy into and to believe a business’ story, having a strong brand identity will help to translate this story to potential consumers.

Listen If… You’re in the development phase of building your brand or looking to rebrand and want expert advice from Founders who have built memorable brands and an engaging social media presence.

All things green beauty brought straight to your earbuds. Championed by Director Lorraine Dallmeier and Business & Relationship Manager Gemma Ortega-Perez both of Accredited Online Cosmetic School, Formula Botanica. Interviews with established brands and leading experts seek to dispel many common (and misplaced) natural beauty myths, as well as educating listeners on ingredients, formulations and the latest news and innovations from the global green beauty community.

Key Takeaway… Defining what you accept the word ‘natural’ to mean is important and that natural does not necessarily mean less effective.

Listen If… You’re interested in starting your own natural skincare business, or you’re interested in learning more about the ingredients found in your day-to-day beauty products.
